We had a cool weekend and we heard from our son on his way to Afghanistan. However, the time went by way too fast and now it is Monday. Therefore, it is time once again for AWMD’s Monday Musings. There are plenty of news items to choose from after the weekend. There are so many possible issues to discuss, it is hard to choose just a few, but I will choose ones that I think you will be interested in. If my “Musing” interests you, let me know what you think. Hell, even if they don’t interest you, let me know! I am interested in your opinion too….as long as you agree with me!
One thing that really irks me is how many of the Teapublican lies and distortions of the Democratic and Obama Administration polices are still “believed” by Americans. I think you may be surprised to see how many lies are still believed by too many citizens. Here are just a few. “Nearly one-fifth of Americans think Obama is a Muslim. Thanks, Fox news, for acting like this was a matter of opinion, not fact. 25 percent of Americans don’t believe in Darwin’s theory of evolution while less than 40 percent do. Consider the fact that several of our newly elected officials, specifically newly elected Kansas Governor Sam Brownback, share that belief. Earlier this year, nearly 40 percent of Americans still believed the Sarah Palin-supported lie about “death panels” being included in health care reform. As of just a few years ago, about half of Americans still suspected a connection between Saddam Hussein and the attacks of September 11, a lie that was reinforced by none other than Dick Cheney. “ http://crooksandliars.com/nicole-belle/stupid-things-americans-believe-thank The linked article from Crooks and Liars blames this on Fox News and the Right Wing Radio conglomerate. While I agree that Fox News is just an arm of the Teapublican Party, I can’t blame the lifespan of these lies just on Fox News. The Democrats have done a very poor job of challenging the Teapublican lies and of hammering the liers. Without doing a better job of explaining the progress that has already been made, the Dems will experience another “tidal wave” in 2012. By the way, in case there are any Teapublicans reading this, if your income was under $250,000, you received a tax break from the Obama Administration. That’s right, a tax reduction, not the increase that you keep hearing from the Right.
