After a gloomy start to the day, the weather just got worse as the day wore on. This week is just flying by and I just can’t wait until our Friday Free For All so here are this week’s Wednesday’s Shorts. I will take a quick look at some of the hot issues of this week and even some of the issues that fly under the radar. I hope you like them.
It didn’t take the Teapublicans long to show the world how outrageous and how partisan they really are. In the first big vote of the lame duck session, they took a unanimous stand to continue a filibuster. “Today, Senate Republicans voted unanimously against legislation to close the pay gap between women and men. The Senate voted 58-41 against allowing debate on the Paycheck Fairness Act, which would help end discriminatory pay practices against women. It had already passed the House.” http://thinkprogress.org/2010/11/17/paycheck-fairness-act-fail/ Leave it to Teapublicans to block the debate on a bill that would help address the unfairness in the pay of all women. Why would Teapublicans not want the pay paid to women to be equal to that of a man for the same job? Maybe the Chamber of Commerce telling them how to vote explains their intransigence. http://www.uschamber.com/issues/letters/2010/letter-opposing-s-3772-paycheck-fairness-act
