Since it is Friday it is time once again for yet another edition of the AWMD Friday Free For All. This is the only time of the week when our arguewithmydad.com readers can control the topic(s) for discussion. All you have to do is get someone else to respond to your suggested topic and then the floor is yours. Don’t be shy and don’t hesitate. Get busy and be sure to let us know your views and arguments so everyone can read and react to them. Right here on arguewithmydad.com. I will make a few suggestions for possible topics, but they are only suggestions. Today is Friday so only you can be the decider. But you need to tell us what you want to discuss. So, what is on your mind today? With all that is going on, how can you not speak your mind? Let’s hear from you!

My first suggested topic today concerns the hot news out of Washington today. After approximately 9 years, the United States will withdraw all of its combat troops out of Iraq by the end of this year! Yes, it seems President Obama has made good on a campaign promise, but I would have preferred to see this happen a couple of years ago. “After nine years of war and nearly a year of back and forth about whether the United States would keep troops in Iraq past the year-end total withdrawal deadline, this afternoon, President Obama announced that all U.S. troops in Iraq will come home by the end of this year. “Today I can say that our troops in Iraq will definitely be home for the holidays,” he said.” Think Progress After nine years of an illegal war, it is time for the troops to come home and it is also time to stop the drain on our military and our treasury. Next Stop, Afghanistan!!?

My second suggested topic involves one of our old Teapublican friends. Senator Lindsey Graham is claiming that now that Qaddafi is dead, it is time to make some money in Libya! “Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has had no shortage of criticisms for Obama administration’s handling of NATO air support for Libyan rebels. But with news this morning of Muammar Qaddafi’s death, Graham offered a new set of criticisms for the administration’s policy of working with a NATO coalition in Libya. Graham, appearing on Fox News, said: One of the problems I have with “leading from behind” is that when a day like this comes, we don’t have the infrastructure in place that we could have. I’m glad it ended the way it did. It took longer than it should have. If we could have kept American air power in the fight it would have been over quicker. Sixty-thousand Libyans have been wounded, 3,000 maimed, 25,000 killed. Let’s get in on the ground. There is a lot of money to be made in the future in Libya. Lot of oil to be produced. Let’s get on the ground and help the Libyan people establish a democracy and a functioning economy based on free market principles.” Lindsey Graham Wow! This crap from a Senator who is willing to spend US money to rebuild Libya in order for Big Oil to get in there and make money, but he won’t spend money to build the infrastructure of the United States! What a hypocrite and world class tool!

Finally, I just want to offer up one more possible topic of discussion. For the second time, the United States Senate has filibustered either the full bill or a partitioned portion of the Jobs Bill that President Obama has offered in order to save current jobs and to create new ones. The Teapublicans, along with the help of a few Blue Dog Democrats, have even prevented the measure from being debated and voted on. “As expected, Senate Republicans blocked the state fiscal aid bill that would have put as much as 400,000 teachers and public safety officials back to work. All 47 Senate Republicans voted against cloture on the motion to proceed on the bill. In addition, three members of the Democratic caucus said no. We knew that Joe Lieberman and Ben Nelson would be no votes, but Mark Pryor also decided that a 0.5% surtax on every dollar over $1,000,000 for Sam Walton and the Walton family wealthy Americans was too much to ask. This means that the final tally on the bill was 50-50. In a sane world where majority rules, Vice President Biden would have cast the tie-breaker and 400,000 teachers and fire fighters and cops would have jobs to look forward to. As it is, the Senate is an undemocratic institution, and states still suffering with depressed tax revenues will have to continue the rounds of layoffs that have been a lead weight on the economy. Or maybe the states can just stop serving lunch to prisoners on the weekends like they’re doing in Texas.” Firedoglake

When are the Democrats going to realize that they cannot expect any cooperation on any bill and that the Senate rules need to be change to prevent a minority from stopping the work in the Senate? When are Americans going to realize that the Teapublicans promise to block everything Obama does is coming true and it is hurting Main Street?
